7.5 ⭐️ Tangle Ridge

Southwest| Booked via: GolfNow | Price Paid: $50 (Weekday)| 30 min from Downtown Dallas

South of Dallas, and it might as well be another planet. The grass changes, the land actually rolls, random mansions pop up, and yes, people still smoke cigarettes. Ashtrays full.

The Course

Stunning. Bunkers sculpted, tee shots dramatic left and right, a few holes with water that make you think. The downhill range is gorgeous, probably one of the best warmup setups south of Dallas from a view perspective. Greens played very slow.

📍 Access & Location

Booked on GolfNow (thank you), which makes it frictionless compared to Grapevine’s call-only system. About 30 minutes each way from Dallas, very doable. Less traffic this direction than heading north on a weekend.

⚖️ How It Stacks Up

The course competes with Buffalo Creek or Twin Creeks on layout and conditions. But the experience isn’t at that level. there is a vibe here that I can’t describe, feels like another era. Still, for under $50, it’s a phenomenal value.

The crowd? Average age: 60+, but surprisingly diverse. Not YouTube golf bros or LIV fanboys, more like Phil Mickelson’s rookie-year gallery. Clubhouse wasn’t the friendliest, but whatever, you came here for golf, not a hug.

🗓️ When to Play

This is a Friday sneak-out spot: quick commute, GolfNow access, great course. On a Sunday morning? I’m probably headed elsewhere.

Final Word:

Call it Lowland Park, not Highland Park, but that’s the charm. Strange experience, excellent course. One of the better-value rounds in DFW, even if it doesn’t crack the top of the leaderboard.
