Waterchase is one of those courses that a lot of golfers genuinely love, especially if they live on the Fort Worth side of DFW.
But coming from Dallas?
It’s a solid 40–45 minutes return drive with traffic, and that alone nudges it into the “special occasion” category for me. Some golfers don’t mind that. I do. That’s on me, not Waterchase.
🏠 Clubhouse & Vibe
Let’s be honest: some golfers prefer minimalism. No frills, no distractions, no scene, just golf. If that’s you, Waterchase is perfect.
For me, though?
I like a little atmosphere. A patio. A bar. A place to linger. Waterchase runs bare-bones on amenities, and that’s totally fine, it’s just not the experience I gravitate toward.
This is a course built for purists, grinders, and “show up and swing” types. If you want comfort and clubhouse charm, other courses fit that better.

Straightforward. Clean. Enough space to warm up without chaos. Just not the reason I’d make a 45-minute drive.
⛳ The Course
This is the highlight….and it deserves credit.
Waterchase has a genuinely fun, smart, varied layout with Water carries, Thoughtful doglegs, Creeks that force decisions, Strategic tee shots Memorable holes. Real scoring opportunities when you’re dialed. Real blow ups when you’re not.
If you want pure golf challenge with a little flash and a lot of water shaping the round, this course delivers.
But here’s where the personal preference kicks in:
I’d rather take a slightly less pure layout if it means a shorter drive, a nicer clubhouse, or just an easier journey home. That’s why I lean toward Twin Creeks, Buffalo Creek, or Woodbridge even if Waterchase is arguably right there in quality.
Nothing wrong with Waterchase’s style — it’s just not the style I chase.
🕒 Pace of Play
Pace here is notoriously slow. The layout bottlenecks, water trouble, and heavy play all stack up.
But for a lot of players, the pace won’t be a dealbreaker.

Here’s the truth: Waterchase is a really good golf course.
For many golfers, it might even be a favorite.
But golf is personal.
Some people prioritize challenge.
Some prioritize convenience.
Some want the pure “show up and play” vibe.
I want something a little more rounded: a nice clubhouse, a smoother commute, a place I’d happily visit on a Friday afternoon or after work.
