Cool, quirky, and fun. A top DFW muni? Sure. But let’s not pretend it’s Pebble or even Little Augusta. The square cut greens was an interesting move.
📍 Location & Access
Just south of downtown in Oak Cliff, Stevens is one of the most accessible courses in Dallas…about 15 minutes from most neighborhoods.
But here’s the catch: singles can’t book online. You have to call or show up. In a city that books fast, that’s a real usability ding for me.
⛳️ The Course
This is where Stevens shines. The downhill shots, tree-framed fairways, and skyline views give the course character. It’s short, but not easy. Tight enough to make you think and fun enough to keep you coming back.
Conditions? Summer punches were still healing. Playable but not pristine. That’s the pattern here—great layout, but muni-level polish.
You’ll be playing along side neighborhood streets and next to cars and walkers. Not exactly a golf escape. If you come focusing on pure golf and the course layout, you’ll be happy you did. You do get a lot for under $50
🧢 Practice Setup
No range. Just nets.
Chipping green is solid, but don’t plan to dial in before a serious round. If you’re prepping for competition, hit balls at Cedar Crest first.
Final Word:
Stevens is beloved for a reason. It’s a unique, memorable layout in the heart of Dallas.
It might be the best DFW muni on paper, but it’s not a tier above the rest. I like it. I’ll play it again. But when it comes to meeting everyday needs—online booking, warmup/practice—I still lean Luna.
If you’ve got friends in town or want a muni with flair, Stevens might be the move.
